Jared Everett Wins Senior Award for Humanities

Jared Everett is a triple degree student, majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and arts applications with a concentration in music.

 As one of the top Benjamin Franklin Scholars, he is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Golden Key International honor societies.  He has served as a virtual employee, senior team leader, and vice president of hardware in the Engineering Entrepreneurship Program; vice president and Webmaster of the Argentine Tango Club; member and Webmaster of the Grains of Time, a renowned a cappella male choir; and a member of the Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Singers at NC State.  He has co-founded a number of music groups and has served as a sales and marketing intern at Protochips, Inc.; a technical sales intern at Sageworks, Inc.; a Co-op engineer at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications; and a teaching assistant at NC State.

Jared has traveled extensively, including a visit to Lund University in Sweden as part of NC State’s Study Abroad program.  At Lund University, he not only had an opportunity to study under Swedish professors but also worked with exchange students from around the world.  Recognized for his charisma and strong interest in the impact of new advances in technology on music and the arts, he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in electrical engineering in the field of signal processing and communications, focusing on audio signal processing.

Jared’s keen interest and accomplishments in areas where science and the humanities meet have earned him the Senior Award for Humanities.
