ECE Student Receives Best Paper Award

Sheng YiSheng Yi has won the 2011 SPS Young Author Best Paper award from the 2011 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP). Yi, a former student of Dr. Hamid Krim has recently graduated and now works at GE Research.

The award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony at ICASSP 2012 in Kyoto, Japan which runs through March 25-30. The award will be presented by the president of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, K.J. Ray Liu.  The Awards Ceremony is part of the Opening Ceremony at ICASSP 2012 on the first full day of the conference.

The ICASSP meeting is the world’s largest and most comprehensive technical conference focused on signal processing and its applications.

Sheng Yi’s paper, "A Shearlet Approach to Edge Analysis and Detection," is available on IEEE Explore.
