Dixit Named as Standing Committee Chair for ACM-W

Congratulations to Arati Dixit, a teaching associate professor in ECE who has been named to the leadership team of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W).


Arati Dixit, a teaching associate professor in electrical and computer engineering at NC State University has been named to the 2019-2020 leadership team of the Association for Computing Machinery’s Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W).

“I am truly honored, privileged and excited to be an instrument in this process of empowerment of women in Computing with ACM-W,” commented Dixit. “I am looking forward to all possible opportunities to interact with Women in Computing and contribute towards creation of effective and all-inclusive networking platforms, projects and systems for the women in computing, belonging to diverse communities—student, IT industry, research, academia and many more! Along with the enthusiastic ACM and ACM-W team, I am optimistic that my experience with women from different continents will help me to connect and work with this bright, diverse and influential community of Women in Computing, to make a positive impact on the dynamic field of computing.”

ACM-W supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field. It provides a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and works in the larger community to raise awareness of the opportunities available to women in computer science and advance the contributions of technical women. ACM-W also seeks to promote new ways for the next generation of women to face today’s challenges, increase participation of women in senior-level positions at ACM, and provide a platform for sharing resources, ideas and experiences.

ACM-W is an active organization with over 36,000 members, with 137 chapters at schools around the world, and helps organize the annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.
