This proposal seeks to develop a sensor for on-demand sensing of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in a person’s saliva as a non-invasive means of detecting inflammation with potential applications for at-home monitoring of COVID-19 patients. The proposed device will be designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing smartwatch system developed by ASSIST’s Health and Environmental Tracker (HET) initiative. Such an integrated system will allow additional saliva sensing capabilities for deeper understanding of an individual’s physiological state.
