If you’re interested in a truly local weather report, check out the real-time data available from a new weather station installed atop Engineering Building 2. NC State’s WeatherSTEM provides up-to-the-minute readings on temperature, wind, humidity, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, barometric pressure and other key metrics.

It even has its own Twitter feed that offers a daily forecast along with photos of the sky over Centennial Campus.

Fred Kish Honored with 2025 IEEE Nick Holonyak Jr. Medal

Fred Kish, director of the NC State Nanofabrication Facility, has received the 2025 IEEE Nick Holonyak Jr. Medal. He was recognized for his groundbreaking work in semiconductor optoelectronics, including photonic integrated circuits and high-efficiency LEDs, which have advanced telecommunications and energy efficiency.
