Greg Bottomley Inducted into Virgina Tech’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni
Congratulations to Dr. Greg Bottomley for his induction into Virginia Tech’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni and for receiving their Extraordinary Impact Award!

Greg Bottomley, ECE Teaching Professor, has been inducted into Virginia Tech’s Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
Bottomley earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1983 and 1988, respectively. Virginia Tech’s department has four award categories to recognize different forms of alumni excellence. Bottomley received the Extraordinary Impact Award in recognition of extraordinary accomplishments that improve people’s lives.
Virginia Tech Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering celebrated its first new members being inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 23 years.
Bottomley is semi-retired from industry, teaching part-time in the ECE Department. He spent almost 20 years with Ericsson Inc., performing applied research in wireless communications, including equalization and interference mitigation. He then spent almost 10 years with Northrop Grumman, working in various areas of signal processing including geolocation. He is a member of the IEEE and has served as Associate Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
