It still sounds like exposition from a SciFi novel, colorful cars whizzing along a skyline track, but the pair of N.C. State University innovators who have been trying to make “personal rapid transit vehicles” (PRT) a reality since 2013 say they’ve made a design breakthrough that could have the system hitting Centennial Campus in 2017.
