ATHENA Analytical Tools

NC State researchers are developing analytical tools to evaluate power-performance tradeoffs in heterogeneous computing platforms. The ATHENA tools and the Structural Simulation Toolkit will provide the foundation to refine models and give feedback to application developers, architects, and device engineers. This will enable the quick evaluation of new applications and architectures and allow researchers to meet power and performance requirements.

More Details

Future HPC platforms will increasingly depend on heterogeneous node and system architectures to meet power and performance requirements. In this vast design space, researchers will need analytical tools to quickly evaluate power-performance tradeoffs. The models can be refined using cycle-accurate simulation to provide feedback to application developers, architects, and device engineers. Development of the ATHENA analytical tools and the Structural Simulation Toolkit will lay the foundation for continued research into new applications and architectures.
