Eli Buckner

Biography

Eli Buckner, a native of Western North Carolina, received his B.S. in Engineering from the Joint NCSU/UNCA Mechatronics Program. He then went on to Raleigh, NC to earn his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University. While there, he conducted his research in the EnBiSys lab. This lab focuses on the use of computational approaches such as machine learning, computer vision, and statistical methods to evaluate and model biological systems. Buckner’s work involved developing software for analyzing microscopy images of Arabidopsis thaliana roots to quantify genetic activity for plants under stress.
