Jeffrey H. Reed is the Willis G. Worcester Professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is the founder of Wireless@Virginia Tech, one of the largest and most comprehensive wireless research groups in the U.S. Reed’s research interests span software-defined radio (SDR), wireless communications, cognitive radio, spectrum access and security.
Reed has authored several highly cited papers and books in the field of wireless communications and has played a significant role in shaping spectrum policy. He has advised government agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and has served on National Academy of Sciences panels. His work on dynamic spectrum access helped lay the foundation for cognitive radio networks.
In addition to his research and policy contributions, Reed has co-founded several companies, including Cognitive Radio Technologies and Allied Communications. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and has received numerous awards for both his technical and leadership achievements in the wireless communications field.
