Dr. Paul Franzon, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State University, has been selected as the College of Engineering recipient of the 2014 Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
The Teaching Awards were established in 1994 to underscore the importance of teaching and to encourage, identify, recognize, reward, and support good teaching within the University.
“I really appreciate this award from the Board of Governors. It demonstrates their support for our educational mission and the integration of research and teaching,” says Franzon.
Dr. Franzon received his BS in Physics and Mathematics, BS in Electrical Engineering, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Adelaide in Australia, in 1982, 1984, and 1988 respectively. His teaching and research focuses on building microsystems (systems constructed of silicon chips, both analog and digital, and silicon micromachined components) for applications in computing, communications, sensors, robotics, and signal processing.
