Meet Gage Novaria, Our Spring 2025 ECE Student Speaker

Gage Novaria will address the Class of 2025 at NC State ECE’s Spring Graduation, sharing a message of resilience, purpose and community.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State is proud to introduce Gage Novaria as the student speaker for the Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremony.

Novaria’s path to the graduation stage is one of second chances, perseverance and impact. After leaving college in 2013, he returned years later with a renewed sense of purpose — balancing full-time work with night classes before transferring to NC State to pursue his degree in electrical engineering.

Since joining the ECE department, Novaria has made the most of every opportunity. As an ECE Ambassador, he’s helped prospective students find their place in engineering. As a student leader, he’s advanced community initiatives, including a tech literacy program for senior citizens and outreach panels for community college transfer students.

“The ECE department gave me more than a technical education,” Novaria said. “It gave me mentors, friends and the confidence to take on the unknown.”

This spring, Novaria will graduate with honors — a testament to the grit and growth that defined his time at NC State.

The Spring 2025 ECE Commencement Ceremony will be held May 1 at 3 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. The event will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.

Novaria’s remarks will celebrate the strength of the Pack — and the journeys that brought each graduate to this milestone.
