Raleigh Hosts Computer Architecture Symposium

Feb 9, 2009

The 15th IEEE International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA) will take place February 14-18 at the Marriott City Center in downtown Raleigh.  This annual conference is one of the premier venues for research in computer architecture — the engineering of a computer system through the careful design of its organization.

ECE faculty and students are playing key roles in hosting this year’s conference.  Tom Conte and Yan Solihin are general co-chairs.  Eric Rotenberg served on the program committee, and is running a workshop on data prefetching.  Greg Byrd is workshops and tutorials chair.  James Tuck is publicity co-chair.  Brian Rogers is the web chair.

The very first HPCA also took place in Raleigh, in 1995.

Another top-tier conference, the ACM Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel Programming (PPoPP), is co-located and will run concurrently with HPCA.
