Abraham Vázquez-Guardado
Biography
Dr. Vázquez-Guardado joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at NC State University in January 2023 as assistant professor. He received his Ph.D. in Optics and Photonics from the College of Optics and Photonics (CREOL) in the University of Central Florida in 2018, his M.S. in Optics from the National Institute for Astrophysics Optics and Electronics in 2012 and his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, major in automation, from the Autonomous University of Nayarit in 2007. Dr. Vázquez-Guardado was a postdoctoral fellow in the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics at Northwestern University (2019–2022) where he participated in the design, development, and deployment of wireless implantable devices for neuroscience research and biomedical applications.
His research interests are in optoelectronic and nanophotonic device physics that serve as the building blocks for multimodal bidirectional bio-interfaces for applications in real-time biosensing, biomedical and neuroscience research, clinical diagnostics, and unsupervised feedback-controlled human interfaces.
