The Millennium Technology Prize is a global award that recognizes life-enhancing innovations in science and technology. Valued at €1 million, it is awarded every two years by Technology Academy Finland. The prize honors individuals or teams whose innovations improve quality of life, support sustainable development and create meaningful societal impact.

Unlike lifetime achievement awards, the Millennium Technology Prize focuses on applied, forward-looking technologies that benefit people and the planet. Past recipients have included inventors of the World Wide Web, LED lighting and next-generation DNA sequencing. The prize reflects Finland’s commitment to advancing technology that solves real problems and shapes a better future.
