Ranbir Singh

Executive Vice President, Navitas Semiconductor

Dr. Ranbir Singh has developed critical understanding and published on a wide range of SiC power devices including PiN, MPS rectifiers, Trench and planar MOSFETs, IGBTs, Thyristors and field controlled thyristors. He has co-authored over 200 publications in various refereed journals and conference proceedings and is an inventor on 35 issued US patents. He is the first author of the book titled “Cryogenic operation of silicon power devices”. He has served on the Technical committee of the IEEE ISPSD from 2002-04 & 2014-16, as well as IEEE IEDM from 2002-03. In 2003, and again in 2004 he received the IEE Japan Award for the development of record-setting performance from SiC devices. In 2011, and again in 2019 he won the R&D100 award towards his efforts in commercializing innovative SiC power devices. In 2012, EE Times named him as among "Forty Innovators building the foundations of next generation electronics industry.”

He received his Ph.D. and MS Degrees from North Carolina State University in 1992 and 1997 respectively; and A B.Tech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1990. In 2004 he founded GeneSiC Semiconductor Inc., which successfully commercialized many families of SiC power devices with industry’s leading performance, ruggedness and reliability. The company was successfully acquired/merged with Navitas Semiconductor (NASDAQ:NVTS) in Aug 2022. During 2003-4, he worked on reliability of SiC power devices at NIST, Gaithersburg, MD; and from 1995-2003 he worked at Cree Inc. in Durham, NC.

Mohamed Mohamed-Ali

Class of 2024

Mohamed Mohamed-Ali, a graduating senior in Computer Engineering, embodies the essence of academic dedication and intellectual curiosity. Mohamed, a first-generation Egyptian college student has demonstrated a passion for learning and a commitment to excellence. While at NC State, Mohamed obtained essential knowledge and skills inside and outside the classroom. He worked as a programming intern for NC State’s EMMC department and as an operations assistant in the ECE Makerspace. Mohamed gained valuable industry experience as a Design Engineer through an internship at Garmin. This combined knowledge and industry experience enabled him to secure a full-time role upon graduation as an Application Engineer at Renesas Electronics. Alongside his full-time job, he plans to pursue a Master's in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Analog IC Design part-time at NC State. Mohamed's story exemplifies perseverance and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. As he embarks on the next phase of his professional and academic journey, his dedication to learning continues to inspire those around him.

Order of the Engineer

Many engineering and computer science societies’ codes of ethics include statements of the professional responsibilities of their working members. The purpose of this ceremony is to remind and encourage NC State College of Engineering students to be cognizant of these responsibilities as they embark on the professional phase of their lives. In addition, we wish to celebrate the conclusion of their time on campus and wish them well in future endeavors as they represent themselves, their families, the college and NC State itself.

Students in one of the ABET-EAC engineering degree programs will be inducted into the Order of the Engineer (OOE) and will receive a ring. Please see www.order-of-the-engineer.org for details on this designation.

The Recognition of Graduates Event on May 1, 2024 4:00 pm requires RSVP online.
